Dark River Pool: Views of Dublin City
A visual arts exhibition showcasing newly commissioned works exhibited in Smock Alley Café, Temple Bar 4th – 25th June
A group of 14 visual artists, from Designer Mart at Cow’s Lane, Old City Temple Bar, will showcase specially commissioned artworks for a visual arts exhibition named Dark River Pool: Views of Dublin City, which will be launched at Smock Alley Café on 4th June by well-known Dublin historian, author and artist, Pat Liddy.
The exhibition, running until 25th June, will reflect a variety of artists’ interpretations of Dublin – from the abstract to the realistic using both traditional and contemporary styles and methods. The exhibitors, a mix of visual artists who are resident in Designer Mart at Cows Lane, which is in situ every Saturday from 10 – 5pm in Old City Temple Bar, were commissioned by Temple Bar Cultural Trust to create a piece of artwork featuring Dublin as its central theme. The original and alternative images of Dublin City will be showcased through photography, paintings, textiles and print. This body of work represents the diversity of what can be experienced in Dublin City today, between old and contemporary architecture; street art and sculpture; standards of living and reflections of Dublin society as a whole.
